We are seeking a practical, organised and creative Junior Visual Art Technician to join our Arts team in a part time capacity, supporting the day-to-day operation of our Visual Arts learning spaces.

This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic secondary school environment, supporting teachers and students across a range of practical Visual Arts activities, while helping maintain safe, well-equipped and engaging learning spaces.

About the Role

Working under the direction of the Faculty Learning Leader – The Arts, you will provide practical and technical support to Visual Arts teachers and students.

You will help ensure classes are well prepared, materials and equipment are available when needed, and Visual Arts spaces are maintained to a high standard.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare and set up materials, equipment and tools for practical Visual Arts classes.
  • Provide basic technical and practical assistance to Visual Arts teachers during scheduled classes.
  • Maintain clean, safe and orderly Visual Arts teaching and studio spaces.
  • Monitor stock levels, assist with deliveries and prepare orders for art supplies in accordance with College procedures.
  • Safely store, maintain and care for Visual Arts materials, equipment and tools.
  • Assist with mounting, hanging and displaying student artwork across the College.
  • Support the physical set-up, installation and pack-up of the annual College Art Exhibition and other Arts events.
  • Undertake routine checks of equipment and tools and report any damage or servicing requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the Visual Arts team to ensure the department’s practical and operational needs are met.

About You

We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable and takes pride in creating well-organised and well-maintained creative spaces.

You will bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Design or a related field, or practical arts studio experience.
  • A practical understanding of art materials, equipment and studio environments.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when preparing materials, caring for equipment and managing stock.
  • The ability to organise daily tasks, prioritise competing demands and work efficiently.
  • Initiative and the ability to work proactively within established routines and guidelines.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
  • A commitment to maintaining safe working environments and following College health and safety procedures.
  • A commitment to child safety and to supporting a positive, inclusive learning environment for young people.
