ROLE PURPOSE
The role of Learning Diversity Leader at St Joseph's School involves close liaison with and support of the Principal, Leadership Team and staff to develop and implement a whole-school approach that:
- promotes the wellbeing and inclusion of all students
- focuses on prevention, early identification and intervention to support students
- provides personalised learning and targeted support to meet individual student needs.
The Learning Diversity Leader works collaboratively with staff, students, families and external agencies to maximise learning opportunities and support the educational, wellbeing, social and emotional needs of all students.
The person in this role has excellent personal, interpersonal and communication skills.
The person in this role demonstrates an understanding of MACS, State and Federal Government policies, initiatives and legislation, and their impact on school processes, practices and vision.

AS A RELIGIOUS EDUCATION LEADER
- Encourage and support the growth of the Catholic culture, faith and traditions of St Joseph's School and maintain a positive partnership between School and Parish.
- Promote positive relationships with students, staff and parents, reflecting Gospel values.
- Promote, through word and example, the beliefs and values articulated in the school's Vision.
- Recognise the importance of education in learning and teaching in the development of the whole person.
- Promote inclusion and equity for all students and respect the dignity of every individual.
- Support and respond with empathy to the needs of students, colleagues and parents.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, empathy and compassion when liaising with students, families, colleagues and external services.
- Be an active member of the Child Safety Team.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to Child Safety and an understanding of the Child Safe Standards.
AS AN EDUCATIONAL LEADER
- Support the implementation of the School's Vision and Principal's Vision.
- Promote positive student behaviour through a consistent, whole-school approach that reflects positive behaviour practices and a growth mindset.
- Develop, implement and review policies, processes and organisational structures that promote inclusion and support the needs of all students.
- Lead and manage the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD), including the identification of student needs, adjustments, programs and required documentation.
- Support teachers to understand and meet NCCD requirements, including the collection and maintenance of appropriate evidence and documentation.
- Maintain an overview of current developments, issues and trends relating to Learning Diversity and Student Support.
- Attend relevant professional learning, courses and regional network opportunities to maintain current knowledge and practice in Learning Diversity and Student Support.
- Communicate and disseminate relevant information to teachers and parents regarding student needs, adjustments and support.
- Attend relevant zone and network meetings.
- Be an effective and supportive member of the School Improvement Team.
- Identify and coordinate professional learning opportunities relating to Learning Diversity and Student Support.
- Support the induction of new teachers and Learning Support Staff in matters relating to Learning Diversity and Student Support.

AS A COMMUNITY LEADER
- Promote and strengthen partnerships between the school, students, families and the broader community.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with government and non-government agencies that support student learning, wellbeing and inclusion.
- Explore and participate in MACS initiatives and projects related to Learning Diversity and Student Support.
- Work collaboratively with individual students, groups and whole classes to support student learning, wellbeing and inclusion.
- Liaise collaboratively with teachers, parents, students and external agencies regarding Student Support.
- Contribute to and promote a positive, collaborative and supportive staff culture.
AS AN ORGANISATIONAL LEADER
- Coordinate and manage the student referral process, including school-based and MACS referrals.
- Coordinate and collate annual NCCD submissions and ensure required documentation is accurate and maintained.
- Facilitate regular meetings for Learning Support Staff.
- Develop and coordinate the Learning Support Staff timetable, including classroom support and yard duties.
- Manage the Learning Diversity budget and ensure resources are used effectively to support student needs.
- Identify, purchase and maintain appropriate Learning Diversity and Student Support resources.
- Liaise with the Principal, parents, teachers, Learning Support Staff, MACS personnel and external agencies regarding student needs and support.
- Coordinate meetings between parents and MACS specialist staff.
- Arrange and attend Program Support Group (PSG) meetings and coordinate the recording and distribution of minutes.
- Ensure Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) are communicated with parents and that final copies are signed and retained at the conclusion of each year.
- Upload PSG minutes and student PLPs/BSPs to NForma.
- Liaise with and support teachers to effectively cater for the individual learning, wellbeing and social and emotional needs of students.
- Oversee the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Personalised Learning Plans, Adjustment Sheets and Behaviour Support Plans for students requiring additional support.
- Liaise with the school psychologist and relevant professionals regarding student needs.
- Liaise with Curriculum Leaders and the Learning and Teaching Leader to identify, monitor and respond to student learning needs.
- Ensure appropriate student records, documentation and actions are maintained in accordance with school, MACS and legislative requirements.
- Meet regularly with the Principal to provide updates regarding student needs, Learning Diversity initiatives, NCCD, referrals and emerging issues.
The successful applicant will have the requirements of:
- registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching
- adherence to the St Joseph's Code of Conduct and Child Safety Policy
The position will begin at the start of Term 1 2027. This is an ongoing position.
