Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment inspired by Catholic values. We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Officer to join our team, focused on the holistic development and safety of our students.
Commitment to Child Safety
The Education Support Officer position calls for:
- Experience working with children
- A demonstrated understanding of child safety
- A demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children
- A suitable person to engage in child-connected work
All staff, should demonstrate an ongoing understanding of child safety requirements, including understanding appropriate behaviours when engaging with young people in and beyond the classroom. This commitment should extend beyond the legal obligations relating to child safety (such as mandatory reporting, Ministerial Order 870 and MACS Code of Conduct) and include pastoral care of the whole person.
Education and Experience
- Appropriate to the role of classroom support including First Aid.
- Demonstrated understanding of disability and wellbeing needs
- Communication & interpersonal skills
- Working with Children Check and Police Check
Skills and Attributes
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in both oral and written communication.
- Capacity to participate in various school activities such as sports, sacramental programs, liturgies, and school camps/excursions.
- Capacity to develop and maintain strong working relationships with all staff.
- Flexibility to work across different year levels as required.
- Support classroom teachers and school leadership in duties that promote student wellbeing and school improvement.
- Ability to work with individual students with disabilities, impairments, or learning difficulties.
- Maintain confidentiality and loyalty to school leadership.
- Maintain records of lessons and student progress.
- Collaborate with teachers in monitoring and evaluating individual student progress.
- Provide classroom teachers and the Learning Diversity Leader with information on student progress and successful strategies.
- Self-motivated with a proven ability to work independently.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to accept and adhere to policy directives.
- Provide respectful and discreet assistance to students with special needs in managing personal care and toileting, in accordance with individual support plans and school policies.
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:50 am - 3:30 pm
