Role Description/Criteria

We are looking for a Learning Support Officer to commence at St Joseph's Malvern, from now until the end of the year, with the possibility of this role being extended into 2026 for the right candidate.

At St Joseph’s, Learning Support Officers are responsible for assisting students with additional needs by supporting and extending their learning in the classroom, under the guidance and with the cooperation of the Classroom Teacher and Learning Diversity Leader. Learning Support Officers also contribute to assisting students to develop the strategies and skills necessary to foster learning, independence and confidence.

Roles and responsibilities will include: 

  • Providing support to teachers by assisting students with their learning
  • Working supportively with students and teachers in achieving the goals outlined in Personalised Learning Plans
  • Recording information regarding the activities and progress of student learning
  • Liaising with Classroom Teachers, the Learning Diversity Leader and other Learning Leaders, to plan learning activities for students who require additional support
  • Providing assistance to students with routine school tasks and assisting with their organisational skills
  • Working collaboratively with the Intervention Team to devise programs of work 
  • To engage in ongoing professional learning
  • Contribution to a child-safe environment, familiarity with and compliance with the School's Child Safety Policy and Code of Conduct, and any other policies or procedures relating to child safety

 

About You:

• Qualifications in learning support and disability education would be advantageous

• Experience in supporting students in Literacy using a phonics-based approach is preferable.

• A positive and adaptable team player who enjoys collaborating with colleagues in order for students to achieve the best educational and social outcomes

• Personal commitment to the care, safety and wellbeing of all students

• Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills
