St Lawrence of Brindisi Catholic Primary School is one of Melbourne's newest and fastest-growing Catholic primary schools, having opened in January 2022We have a friendly, collegial staff team, supportive parents and happy students. We are seeking applications from skilled, enthusiastic, innovative educators with a demonstrated leadership capacity for the role of Deputy Principal: Student Engagement. Applicants will need to possess a thorough knowledge of and capacity to support the implementation and management of structured Learning Diversity, Wellbeing and Behaviour Management frameworks in a primary school setting. An understanding of the VCEA NCCD processes, the MACS Vision for Engagement, the MacKillop ReLATE framework and Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is preferred.

We are looking for a school leader who demonstrates the capacity to build nurturing, professional relationships with students, staff and parents. They must be open to professional growth and learning and be able to provide targeted support, mentoring and feedback to staff. Applicants must possess highly developed administrative and communication skills.

Applicants must have a current VIT registration (or the capacity to gain this) and should have experience working in a Catholic school setting. Applicants with a current VCEA Accreditation to Teach in Catholic School (or interstate equivalent) are preferred.

Key Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • a capacity to support the Catholic identity and ethos of our school community. 
  • a thorough understanding of and capacity to manage the implementation of Learning Diversity (Additional Learning Needs/Special Educational Needs) frameworks for students and staff.
  • a detailed understanding of effective, contemporary Wellbeing frameworks.
  • a detailed understanding of how to implement and support an effective behaviour management framework.
  • a demonstrated capacity to support the professional growth of staff.
  • a demonstrated capacity to provide high-level leadership skills in a primary school setting, including strong administrative skills.
  • a willingness to engage collaboratively with students, staff and the wider school community.
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills.
