Role Description/Criteria
Learning Support Officer
Emmaus Catholic Primary School is inviting applications from enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Officers who are passionate about helping children experience success, connection, and belonging at school. Applicants with experience supporting students in the early years are encouraged to apply.
The Learning Support Officer will work closely with classroom teachers, the Student Engagement and Wellbeing Team, and the Deputy Principal – Learning and Teaching to provide targeted support for students with a range of learning, behavioural, and social-emotional needs.
As part of our commitment to inclusive education, Learning Support Assistants play a significant role in fostering student engagement, wellbeing, and learning growth through our Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). Position Information
- Part-time position – 5 days per week
- Hours: 8:30am – 3:15pm
- Commencement: Monday, 13 July 2026

Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
- Support individual students and small groups across academic, behavioural, and wellbeing areas.
- Assist teachers in delivering targeted adjustments and intervention strategies to support diverse learners.
- Encourage positive student participation, confidence, and engagement in learning.
- Develop supportive and respectful relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and external professionals to support student growth and wellbeing.
- Contribute positively to the inclusive and faith-filled culture of the school community.
Selection Criteria
We are seeking applicants who:
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to Catholic education and the values of compassion, inclusion, and respect.
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children with diverse learning and behavioural needs.
- Are nurturing, patient, and able to build positive relationships with children.
- Display initiative, flexibility, and a willingness to work as part of a collaborative team.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Are confident implementing practical learning and behaviour support strategies in both classroom and playground settings.
- Support the MACS Vision for Engagement and Vision for Instruction through inclusive and student-centred practices.
- Have experience working in an Education Support, Learning Support, or Teacher Assistant role.
- Hold, or are working towards, a Certificate III or IV in Education Support, Disability Support, or a related qualification.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
- A current National Police Check
- A commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education
- A willingness to actively contribute to the life of a faith-centred school community
