Role Description/Criteria

The successful applicant will be an engaging educational leader who demonstrates a deep commitment to Catholic Education and a passion for fostering a culture in which students, staff and families flourish. They will be remunerated in accordance with the Category B Deputy Principal Salary Level 2–1, reflecting the responsibilities and expectations of this leadership position.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the mission and Catholic identity of the school.
  • Developing the capacities of others, individually and in teams, to strive for excellence in instruction and engagement.
  • Driving strategic improvement initiatives aligned with the School Improvement Plan and Annual Action Plan.
  • Promoting high-quality learning and teaching, with a strong emphasis on explicit and direct instruction.
  • Supporting student wellbeing through evidence-based approaches, such as the Berry Street Education Model and Positive Behaviours for Learning.
  • Building strong partnerships with staff, students, families and the wider community.
  • Contributing to a positive, inclusive and collaborative school culture.
  • Assisting in the effective management of human, financial and physical resources.

  • Cover letter (maximum 1 page) outlining: 
    • the leadership roles you have held and the ways you have influenced whole-school improvement and innovation
    • your strengths, passions and drivers in learning and teaching, including how you use evidence to shape practice
    • the leadership qualities, mindsets and capabilities you would bring to our team and how they position you to thrive in this role
  • a current Curriculum Vitae 
  • response to the Key Selection Criteria (maximum 3 pages)
  • Certified evidence of Victorian Institute of Teaching registration
  • Certified evidence of academic qualifications – inclusive of tertiary qualifications, academic qualifications additional to initial teacher education (Master’s degree or five-year equivalent) and accreditation to teach and lead Religious Education in a Catholic School.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced or aspiring school leader to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing growth and mission of St Andrew’s Primary School.
