Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools and the Rerum Novarum Foundation have announced the winners of the inaugural Rerum Novarum Awards.

Students in Years 10 to 12 were asked to address a social justice issue in their community, using the ‘See, Judge, Act’ method to apply the principles of Catholic social teaching to their project. Proposals included a research paper, a video submission, a project impact report and a funding proposal. Three grants, one each of $10,000, $5,000 and $2,500, were available to the winning projects.

Congratulations to the 2020 Rerum Novarum Award winners:

• first place: Mater Christi College, Belgrave (video submission)
• equal second place: Academy of Mary Immaculate, Fitzroy (video submission)
• equal second place: Mount Lilydale Mercy College, Lilydale (video submission)
• third place: Clonard College, Herne Hill (video submission).
