History:

Clonard College was founded in 1956 by the Brigidine Sisters, in response to the growing demand for Catholic education for girls in Geelong, following a period of strong migration to the area during the early 1950s.

In 2014, Kildare Education Ministries assumed governance responsibilities for all Brigidine owned schools in Australia including Clonard.

The College motto of 'Strength and Kindliness' reflects the our commitment to offering its services to those who seek an education based in Christian values within an environment that is supportive of each individual while challenging her to develop fully her gifts and talents.

Features:

Of utmost importance is the caring, supportive learning environment that exists at Clonard.

Over the past few years every effort has been made to develop state of the art facilities including the development of Tullow, a 1.5 hectare green space purchased from the State Government in 2012 that was officially opened in 2014, and the newly constructed Delany Centre, a purpose-built centre for Yr 8 and 9 students, that was also opened in 2014. In 2016 the College celebrated its 60th year with the highlight being the opening of the new St Brigid's chapel.

Clonard College offers a broad, challenging and comprehensive curriculum incorporating:

• a teaching and learning program designed to be challenging and responsive to emerging needs in education that is regularly updated and supports the personalised learning of students by providing successful pathways into VCE, VCAL and VET programs

• a pastoral care program that monitors and supports each student

• additional curriculum programs including reflection days, instrumental music, debating, public speaking, a comprehensive range of sporting programs, special needs and extension programs, community service, and camps

• alternative and foundation programs for students with special needs.
