The community at Christ the King School, Newcomb, have celebrated the opening of their newest facilities for their youngest learners.

The school’s new Prep Learning Centre was officially opened by Christine Couzens, Member for Geelong, and blessed by Fr James Clarke, Parish Priest of St Mary of the Angels. Completed with a grant of $1.062 million from the Victorian Government, as well as contributions from the school, the new centre adjoins a refurbished junior learning centre with classrooms and breakout spaces that maximise learning opportunities for students in the junior years.

‘Since I was interviewed in 2016 for Catholic Education Today magazine about where I’d like our school to be in the future’, said principal Jose Blackley, ‘I think it would be fair today to say that the vision has been achieved, particularly in terms of the facilities’.

‘I’m so proud to have Christ the King in my electorate, it’s a really special place’, said Ms Couzens. ‘All the things that make a community is what I see here at Christ the King. You deserve the high-quality classrooms, facilities and resources that make your learning as students a really significant one.’
