Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) aspires to become the benchmark for excellence in teaching and learning through providing access to a coherently integrated and academically competitive education for all students, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Our Vision for Instruction and Vision for Engagement set out how we will deliver this promise to our students, families and staff, and achieve the vision of our MACS 2030 strategy: that every student is inspired and enabled to flourish and enrich the world.

Students need to feel safe and have a positive sense of belonging to be engaged in their learning, sustain their attention in school, discover their passion and achieve their potential.

Vision for Instruction, launched in February 2024, is MACS’ system-wide blueprint for teaching and learning excellence.

Vision for Engagement, launched in June 2025, is MACS’ system-wide roadmap to optimising classrooms and schools for learning, to support the teaching approach and content in our classrooms..

Our twin Vision statements represent a holistic and uniquely Catholic response to the unprecedented challenges young people face today. Both are the culmination of years of global research on how students learn best, analysis of the most successful teaching methods, emerging research on student attention and wellbeing, and input from teachers in our own schools.

‘The Vision for Instruction position statement is a crucial document which will support all MACS schools to deliver high-quality learning and teaching for all students’ (MACS principal).

Vision for Enagagement has really changed our school by embedding consistency and fostering a shared understanding of expectations. It has created a calm environment where every student feels accepted and motivated to do well’ (MACS principal).
