History:
Catholic education has existed in our parish for well over 100 years. St Patrick’s Primary School in Conway Street, Kilmore, was opened in 1968. The Sisters of Mercy opened the school, with the last Sister of Mercy farewelled in 1986. The actual parish of St Patrick’s was established in 1849. Enrolments are growing and in 2018 we expect to have an enrolment of 585 children. The children come from twelve different localities, all within 25 minutes travel time from school. St Patrick's is situated alongside Assumption College, Kilmore, a Years 7–12 Marist school, and the two schools have a close partnership that is centred on the best education for our students.
Description:
St Patrick’s is located at the southern end of Kilmore, situated 57 kilometres north of Melbourne. It is a rapidly developing, light industrial and residential town. The leading industries are pastoral, horseracing / trotting, education and tourism. Many of our parents commute to the outer northern areas of Melbourne for work each day. The township of Kilmore and the surrounding townships that form part of the parish of St Patrick’s have been predominately Anglo-Saxon but this is changing as more people establish themselves in the immediate area.
St Patrick’s is a co-educational school offering a comprehensive curriculum including opportunities for multi-ability grouping. Children learn in a positive environment, which encourages co-operation, risk-taking and effective communication between teachers, students and peers. Within this environment, students are expected to develop positive self-esteem, work cooperatively with others, take pride in their school and their work, value achievement and respect staff and other students.

St Patrick’s Primary School values partnerships between school, home, community and Church, providing a safe, stimulating environment that is challenging, motivating, enjoyable and conducive to learning. Parent involvement is encouraged in many different forms, such as, the School Advisory Board, Parents & Friends Association, excursions and classroom helpers, e.g. reading and art. Parents also play an important role in our Sacramental programs, which involves masses, reflection days and celebration meals.
