History:
St Joseph’s School, Malvern, is located in Stanhope Street and is adjacent to De La Salle College, Malvern. The school was opened in 1889 on its present site and was run by lay teachers until 1896 when the Sisters of the Sacred Heart took over. In 1917 the present building was erected and the Brigidine Sisters continued the work of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart.

St Joseph's current enrolment is approximately 170 students, with each grade being a single year level.

The dedicated and experienced staff view pastoral care of the students and the development of each student's confidence and positive values as a priority, along with sound learning and teaching. Special attention is given to literacy and numeracy development.
All classrooms are equipped with state of the art technology and a suite of Chromebooks/ iPads/ laptops to support the students’ learning. As a GAFE (google applications) school all students have access to the internet and online collaboration tools through the cloud-based drive.
There are specialist teachers for Physical Education, Art, Music, Italian and Chess.
All children have the opportunity to participate in music instrument lessons, band and the school choir. St Joseph’s has an After-School-Care program that operates until 6 pm each day, and on curriculum days.
Throughout the year, students in Years 5 & 6 participate in interschool sporting activities as a member of the South-Central Catholic Schools Sports Association. Grades 3–6 participate in district events during the year.
The parent community is active in assisting in the literacy program, membership of the Parish Education Advisory Board, fundraising and organisation of social activities, interschool sport, excursions and participation in working bees.
