History:

Our Lady of Sion College was established by the Sisters of Our Lady of Sion in 1928 with an enrolment of 15 students, to address the need for a Catholic school in the area. Initially a coeducational school for primary and secondary students, the College quickly moved to secondary girls education as its sole focus. Our Lady of Sion has flourished into its current community – supporting an annual enrolment of around 950 students – and operates within the Catholic tradition, sensitive to the richness of its Jewish–Christian heritage.

Description:

Our Lady of Sion caters for students from Years 7 to 12, and has a proud history of providing excellent education to young women, promoting service to others and maintaining a culture of respect and inclusion. Our values of compassion, justice, reconciliation, peace and love underpin every decision about how we educate the students in our care.

Our holistic curricular and co-curricular programs support students to engage with global concerns and equip them with Catholic values, understanding and relevant skills. Students maintain a global perspective through formation and social justice opportunities that call them to dialogue with other faiths and to serve the needs of others.

We offer excellence in education and the opportunity to join a community built on respect for individual needs, working in partnership with parents to support our students to truly flourish.

Features:

Facilities include our state-of-the-art Notre Dame Centre for our Year 11 and 12 students, a space which provides 16 learning areas, private study space and staff offices. The flexible learning areas suit a diversity of uses both formal and informal, and offer a sophisticated environment for our senior students to complete their secondary education and feel supported in the transition to tertiary study.

At the other end of the Sion experience, our Emmanuel Learning Centre provides our Year 7 and 8 students with a wonderful central setting to begin their journey with us. Combining further flexible spaces and an abundance of natural light, the facilities provide a welcoming environment for students to settle in and thrive at Our Lady of Sion College.

Our Miriam Theatre is the cultural heart of Our Lady of Sion, purpose-built to host our biennial full-school musical productions and senior and junior plays, concerts, class assemblies, and other College functions. With seating for 350, the theatre offers students a platform on which to build their confidence or to hone their stage-management skills back-of-house, with both team building and public speaking outcomes forming an important part of our holistic educational offerings.
