History:

St Anne’s school opened in February 1931. The Josephite Sisters were the first founders of the school until the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions came to the parish in 1941 to expand the school into junior secondary. In 1975 a lay principal was appointed. The school is closely aligned with the parish. In 2018, there are 7 classes, with an enrolment of approximately 150.

Description:

St Anne’s is comfortable and well-maintained, having had two major upgrades since the 1980s and an expansion of the outdoor area from the purchase of two blocks of land along the Beresford Street boundary. In 2002, the Parish Education Board conducted a process of Master Planning for future development. From 1977 until 2009, we had joint use of the Kew Music Centre located in Beresford Street.

Our Pastoral Care policy reflects the philosophy that pastoral care should permeate all aspects of the school community. Regular meetings of our Student Welfare Support Group are scheduled to address the academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs of students. We have an integrated approach to curriculum planning. All class teachers use strong teaching approaches for Literacy; Mathematics and Technology are other notable curriculum strengths. The Physical Education program incorporates participation in skills development, swimming and outdoor education. Interschool sport is offered to our Year 3-6 students.

Features:

St Anne’s has seven co-educational classes in a caring, intimate school, where individual student's wellbeing is importantly promoted. Curriculum features include specialist teachers in Performing Arts, Library, Digital Technology, Physical Education and Italian. There is a very active Parents and Friends Association and Class Representative structure. Parents assist in programs such as literacy, sports training, Saturday basketball competitions, preparation of materials for the sacraments, the biennial art show, the biennial school concert, excursions and working bees. The Out-of-School-Hours Care program is available both before and after school. Private lessons in piano, drums and guitar are also available.
