History:

Emmaus College opened in February 1980. It was established from the amalgamation of St Thomas More College (1968–1979) at Forest Hill and Chavoin College (1966–1979) at Burwood. While the school is relatively new, it has benefited from the rich traditions of the two colleges. Until 2012 the Years 7–10 campus was located at Vermont South and the VCE campus was at Burwood. Since 2012 Years 7-12 have been located at Vermont South and Year 9 (Y9@E) at Burwood.

Since its beginnings the College has welcomed students from parishes in the cities of Knox, Whitehorse, Yarra, Boroondara and Monash. Many students have also come from overseas (Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau and Vietnam). Exchange students have come from sister schools in Italy, Germany and Indonesia to provide a rich and socially diverse student community.

Description:

Emmaus College was established to provide co-educational choice for families from the many parishes that feed into our school. Original regional parishes include:
St Michael's, Ashburton; St Scholastica's, Bennetswood; St Philip's, Blackburn North; St Thomas the Apostle, Blackburn; St Luke the Evangelist, Blackburn South; St Benedict's, Burwood; Our Lady of Victories, Camberwell; St Cecilia's, Camberwell South; St Timothy's, Forest Hill; Holy Saviour, Glen Waverley North; St Christopher's, Syndal; Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Wattle Park.

Dual Campus
The College occupies two sites. The Year 9 Campus caters for our Year 9 students and is situated in Warrigal Road, Burwood, next to St Benedict's Church. The Years 7–12 Campus in Springvale Road, Vermont South, has a more spacious setting with two playing fields, basketball and tennis courts and a multi-purpose stadium for indoor sports. Six buildings less than 14 years of age provide students with excellent contemporary learning facilities.
