History:

Annunciation School in Brooklyn was established in the early 1960s to provide a second school in the Kingsville Parish and to serve the need for Catholic education for the then large migrant hostel in Millers Road. The early school catered for up to 200 students in a complex that housed up to six classrooms. The school now services the needs of a small pocket of relatively affordable, near-city housing. We have an enrolment of approximately 100 students.

The school was opened by the Sisters of St Joseph. Since 1980 the school has been run by dedicated lay principals and staff.

Description:

The school's population comes from approximately 60 families. About half of the children come from families where English is not the principal language spoken at home. The school currently operates four classes – Prep/Year 1, Years 2/3, Year Four and Years 5/6. Through the efforts of staff, children, parents and friends, additions and improvements to the school are continually being made.

Features:

Like all Catholic schools, we exist to help parents pass on our Catholic faith and traditions to their children, while also providing the very best education following the Victorian Curriculum F–10. Because of our unique size, we are able to provide a very safe family atmosphere where children feel secure while at school. Over the past years we have been able to offer specialist programs in Italian, Music, Physical Education and Library.
