History:

Resurrection Parish grew out of the parish of Sacred Heart, St Albans, and commenced operation under the guidance of Fr Vin Corbett. Resurrection Primary School was opened in 1978, gaining registration in February 1979, with Mr John Goonan as the first principal. Buildings were added over the following years, under the guidance of two further principals. In 2003 an eight-roomed junior building was built, along with a new play area along the southern side of the school. In addition, a new Parish Office and a convent for the Vietnamese Sisters was built. Refurbishment was also carried out on the administration area and student toilet facilities, and the staff and parent car parking areas and the playground were resurfaced.

The school has always catered for a diverse cultural clientele. It grew rapidly to a peak enrolment of around 700 students in 1990, but over the next decade, the enrolment numbers began to decrease. In recent years student numbers have steadily increased.

The community has always been active and involved, with a very strong emphasis on the wellbeing of all concerned, which continues today with a well-defined and implemented approach.

The educational needs of our students have always been the focal point of the considerable energy of this community. The diversity represented in our families continues to ensure that our approach to learning and teaching is being driven by the individual needs of our students. This has resulted in a stimulating P–6 program in all domains of the curriculum.
