Description:

In 2020, Iona College Geelong welcomed 150 Foundation (Year 7) students and 23 staff. The College will be fully built in three stages over six years.

This will mean a $65 million investment in state-of-the-art facilities that serve the educational needs of students well into the future. Iona College has welcomed 150 year seven students in 2020 and will ultimately build a secondary school population upwards of 1500 students over a ten-year period.

A comprehensive, integrated curriculum is being developed to ensure that students reach their academic potential. The wellbeing needs of the College community will be prioritised so that students are healthy physically, emotionally and spiritually.

The first stage of building has involved the $25 million-dollar development of learning, collaborative and specialist spaces to cater specifically for the junior years. This in-turn will be enhanced, by the development of a sporting precinct that will consist of an AFL-standard oval (with construction commencing in May 2020), Gymnasium, and Food Technology Centre. In October 2020, the building of the College’s specialist facilities (Art, Technology, STEM, Science and Media) will commence and be ready to use at the commencement of the 2022 school year.

Our vision incorporates the aspirational statement, ‘Learning to Change the World’ as we shape a robust learning program designed to engage and inspire.

Iona College is not being built to replicate the educational options that already exist in the Geelong region; rather it is the chance to put into action the latest advancement in educational thinking that ensures that students are equipped for the demands of the future.
