History:

St Anthony’s School, Glen Huntly, is located in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. St Anthony’s School was established by the Presentation Sisters 100 years ago and has continued as a parish school

The staff work together to ensure that the Catholic tradition and values are alive, vibrant and integrated into the daily lives of the children.

Description:

St Anthony’s is a welcoming Catholic parish primary school that embraces all within the community, striving to impart our Catholic faith tradition based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and participation in the sacramental life of the Church.

The school's vision and motto is: ‘Seek and you shall find the potential in all’.

Our mission is much more than helping children pass a test; it’s to help shape hearts and minds for a lifetime of success.

The curriculum of St Anthony’s School is based on a personalised Integrated Inquiry approach, with Religious Education, English and Mathematics the major foci for developing the most relevant curriculum for the children in the area. This approach integrates the curriculum areas of Technology, Science, Geography, History, Studies of Society and Environment, Health and the Arts.

Sacramental preparation – Year 3 for Reconciliation, Year 4 for Eucharist, and Years 5 and 6 for Confirmation – is undertaken as joint parish, home and school activities.

Excursions and first-hand experiences of the classroom content play a significant part in the development of this curriculum.

St Anthony's offers the quality specialist programs of Physical Education, LOTE (Mandarin), ICT, the Arts, Language support, and Student Diversity Education delivered by specialised staff.

Features:

At St Anthony’s School we aim to develop the attitudes and skills that will equip all children to participate fully in the ever changing world of the 21st Century. We believe that children learn best when they are active participants in their own learning.

The school caters for individual differences and believes that children should proceed at individual rates, take responsibility for their learning and be successful in what they do.

At St Anthony’s, students and teachers work together to co-design an engaging curriculum that provides a wide variety of educational opportunities to accommodate different learning styles and needs.

Founded in the Christian faith our students are taught the essential skills of literacy and numeracy and are developed to use the capabilities of critical and creative thinking so that they can achieve their personal goals.

Intervention and support programs are provided for students to ensure that each child receives the best possible education catering to their individual needs.

The school is fortunate to run a Before and After School Care Program onsite.

Parental involvement is valued and welcomed in all areas of the curriculum as the staff believe that in partnership we can best develop the growth of all children.
