Role Description/Criteria

MacKillop Education is a Catholic Specialist P-12 School that comprises of three school campuses; Geelong, Maidstone and Caulfield. It caters for children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from mainstream education. The students referred to MacKilllop have a history and/or ongoing experience of trauma and their needs are complex and diverse; self-regulation is difficult for our students and this can result in challenging social and emotional behaviours.


We have a Permanent Full-time opportunity available based in Maidstone, VIC within our MacKillop Education Program.


About the role:

This position is situated within MacKillop Education Maidstone (Special Assistance School Grades 3-6) and reports to the education and Wellbeing Coordinator. The Generalist Teacher is a member of our Maidstone campus team. They will work collaboratively to develop and deliver highly effective and engaging learning programs that are suited to the diverse needs of our students and meet the requirements of the Victorian Curriculum.


Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A four-year teaching qualification or equivalent and eligibility for Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience in implementing highly aspirational initiatives in student learning, informed by the Victorian Curriculum
  • Experience in the design, delivery and assessment of programs that cater for the diverse and complex needs of individual learners, and engage students who have a range of learning difficulties and challenging behaviours
  • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and creatively with colleagues to improve the quality of programs and enhance student outcomes
