Role Description/Criteria

Our Lady of the Nativity School is seeking a dedicated Mathematics Intervention Teacher to join our team and support students who require additional assistance in mastering mathematical concepts. The Mathematics Intervention Teacher will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to identify areas of need, and implement effective instructional strategies to improve mathematical understanding and performance.  


Key Responsibilities:

Assessment and Evaluation:

-Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify students strengths and weaknesses in mathematical concepts.

-Analyse assessment data to determine specific areas of need and develop targeted intervention plans.

-Regularly evaluate student progress and adjust intervention strategies accordingly.


Instructional Planning and Delivery:

-Utilise evidence-based instructional strategies and resources to teach mathematical concepts effectively.

-Provide differentiated instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

-Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention activities with classroom curriculum and goals.


Small Group and Individual Instruction:

-Conduct small group and one-on-one instructional sessions to provide focused support.

-Scaffold learning experiences to help students build foundational mathematical skills and concepts.

-Provide junior extension sessions and facilitate APSMO session for senior students


Progress Monitoring and Reporting:

-Maintain detailed records of student progress, including assessment results, intervention activities, and achievement data.

-Communicate regularly with classroom teachers to provide updates on student progress and areas for improvement.


Professional Development and Collaboration:

-Work in collaboration with Mathematics Leader to support student learning outcomes and staff professional learning

-Stay informed about current research, best practices, and trends in mathematics education and intervention.

-Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to mathematics intervention.

-Facilitate and assist with Professional Learning Team meetings

The successful applicant:

  • must have current VIT registration
  • should be accredited to teach Religious Education in a Catholic School or be committed to undertaking required further study
  • be familiar, and comply, with the school's Child Safety Policy and Code of Conduct

The salary is in accordance with the VCEMA
