Role Description/Criteria

A new and exciting role has been created at MacKillop Education in Dandenong seeking a part-time Education Specialist.

Our vision at MacKillop Education is to ensure equity and access to learning for all children and young people who are vulnerable and disengaged from education.

In this role you will empower children and Young People living in out of home care, home-based care and statutory orders to reengage in education, experience success in learning and enhance the learning outcomes. The successful candidate will have relevant experience, knowledge and skills in education, to provide specialist education support to children and young people, develop best practice in the team and liaise effectively with relevant stakeholders.

This is a Permanent Part-Time (3 days - 22.8 hours per week) opportunity based in Dandenong.

We are looking for a candidate who can commit to working Tuesday's. We are flexible with the other two days.

Key Requirements:

Valid and current Driver’s Licence;

Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);

Valid Employee Working with Children Check; OR a valid VIT registration

Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Appropriate experience and qualifications in education (e.g., Tertiary qualification as a teacher with current VIT registration; Certificate IV in Education Support; or other relevant qualification).

Experience working with children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.

A sound understanding of how trauma impacts on learning.

Experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing individual education plans.
