De La Salle College Malvern, a distinguished independent Catholic College for boys in Years 6 – 12, has a rich history since its founding in 1912. We have an exciting opportunity, Position of Leadership as House Coordinator, commencing Term 3, 2025. This Position of Leadership is fulltime when combined with a teaching load, and is a fixed term position until end of 2025.
Remuneration will be based on experience, following the Teacher scale of the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022 (CEMEA).

Job Description:
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Liaise with the Class Mentors in their year level, Head of Senior Years and / or Executive Deputy Principal, Psychologists to manage the pastoral care and personal counselling programs of all students in their year level, referring and maintaining communication with specialist staff when necessary;
- Ensure, where appropriate, that teaching staff are informed of any issues affecting students in their year level;
- Be aware of the social, emotional, physical, academic and spiritual development of students in the year level, including the orientation of new students;
- Deal with students who seriously and/or continually break the rules and who fail to respond to reasonable methods implemented by the classroom teacher;
- Ensure that all members of the year level are familiar with, and reference, the De La Salle College Malvern Student Behaviour Policy;
- Supervise Friday and Saturday detentions on a rostered basis
- To communicate information to staff which is pertinent to the student’s social, emotional, physical, spiritual and academic wellbeing;
- To be an active member of the College’s Wellbeing Team to discuss issues, develop and evaluate policy regarding student wellbeing;
- To meet regularly with the Year Level Class Mentors and Year Level Support Staff;
- Adhering to the school's Child Protection Policy and Child Safety Staff Code of Conduct.
- Ensuring up-to-date student data management systems.
- Complying with ongoing professional development requirements as per VIT guidelines.
- Actively engaging in internal and external professional development to enhance teaching practices.
- Utilizing a variety of teaching methods and resources to effectively engage students in their learning journey.
Skills/Experience Required:
We require the following qualifications and qualities in the ideal candidate:
- Bachelor of Education or relevant tertiary qualification.
- Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
- A strong commitment to Catholic education.
- Ability to build and maintain professional and caring relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Skills to create an engaging, educational, and challenging learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of all students.
- An eagerness to learn and grow in the field of education.
- Proficiency in implementing a differentiated curriculum and leveraging modern technology to support student learning.
Special Requirements:
At De La Salle College Malvern, the safety, well-being, and inclusion of all children are paramount. Therefore, the successful applicant must demonstrate a clear understanding of and commitment to providing a safe environment for children.
The successful applicant must hold a valid Victorian Institute of Teaching registration. While accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school is advantageous, it is not a prerequisite.
