New technology is taking Ss Peter and Paul's School kids out of the science classroom and helping them explore the world beyond.

The Doncaster East school has 25 new magnifying microscopes that children can take outside to continue their studies.

They've taken delivery of the equipment thanks to a Rotary Australia program that saw thousands of the devices delivered to schools across Australia.

Their portable, user-friendly design will allow students to look at things inside and out.

School deputy principal Anita Kelliher said the microscopes were 'very new technology'.

'They are different from traditional microscopes and they're much more user-friendly,' she said.

'They can be taken out in the field and that'll even help kids in their exploration of art in nature. Schools cry out of this sort of thing.'

Ms Kelliher thanked the school's 'proactive' parents and friends committee, in particular parent Sharon Tarulli.
