Thousands celebrate St Patrick
16 March 2018
Three thousand students from over 300 Catholic schools from across greater Melbourne, led by Celtic pipers and bearing their school banners, are at St Patrick’s Cathedral in East Melbourne to mark the eve of St Patrick’s Day.
They’re joined by guests including federal and state parliamentarians for the Mass of St Patrick for Schools, the highpoint of Catholic Education Week. Following the Mass some students will enjoy a concert in the park while others hear from recent graduates at the Young Speakers Colloquium.
‘Open new horizons for spreading joy’, the theme for this year’s Catholic Education Week, is also the theme for the Church’s Year of Youth. Catholic Education Week continues until Sunday.
