Students from Lumen Christi School, Point Cook, participating in the MS Readathon.5 November 2020

The book-lovers at Lumen Christi School, Point Cook, have once again shown their commitment to reading while supporting the MS Readathon.

The school has not only earned the title of the second-highest fundraising school in Australia, but it can also boast Australia’s top fundraiser. $24,115 has been raised by the school in 2020, including $9,678 by student Aarya Valera. This year, the school had over 40 students participate in the MS Readathon, reading over 1,137 books. It was wonderful to see past participants continue their commitment to the Readathon as well as so many children, including Prep students, participating in their first Readathon. It has been great to see them become so involved in such a worthy cause.

Lumen Christi School has participated in the MS Readathon for over seven years. The Readathon provides a great opportunity to raise funds and awareness of multiple sclerosis (MS) while encouraging children to read. The funds raised from the MS Readathon help primary school-aged children attend special MS Family Camps. These camps help families, where a parent has MS, to spend time together, learn more about the condition and bond with others who are sharing their journey.
