St Monica’s College, Epping, had more reason to cheer than most during the recent Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Former student Reno Piscopo was selected as an Olyroo to represent Australia in football. Reno has also had success with international teams including Inter Milan and Torino, and now with A-League club Wellington Phoenix. This was capped off with his Olympic selection for the recent Games in Tokyo.

The college’s sporting credentials don’t end there, with alumnus Simon Colosimo also having a stellar A-League career. Simon’s 26 national selections and his selection in the 2000 Sydney Olympics are career highlights. The Olympic connections continue with the college’s Director of Basketball, John Dorge, whose exceptional basketball career includes four NBL championships, as well as representing Australia at two Olympic Games.

‘The Monican community is very excited to see Reno achieving such success so early in his career and we wish him well going forward’, said Principal Brian Hanley. ‘Simon is often welcomed back to our college and having John managing our Basketball Academy adds yet another elite level of coaching for our students.’
