Construction has begun on Melbourne’s newest Catholic school, St Teresa of Kolkata Catholic Primary School, Tarneit North.

Foundation Principal Robyn Kelly joined Member for Tarneit, Dylan Wight MP, Councillor Marcel Mahfoud from the City of Wyndham, Parish Priest Fr Jude Pirotta, representatives from Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), as well as builders and architects for a symbolic turning of the soil.

‘It’s amazing to think that we’re standing on ground here that, this time next year, will be a thriving school community’, said Robyn. ‘My hope for this school is that it’s welcoming, inclusive and that, every time you open the doors of our school, you will see the gospel values and a true sense of joy.’

The school will become the fourth in the St James the Apostle Parish, Hoppers Crossing North, joining St Clare’s Catholic Primary School, Truganina South, St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School, Tarneit, and St James the Apostle School, Hoppers Crossing North. St Teresa of Kolkata Catholic Primary School will open in 2024.
