Role Description/Criteria

St Mary MacKillop Catholic Primary School is searching for an enthusiastic, experienced and dedicated teaching professional to join our Learning Intervention Team.  The position is for 0.6 - 0.8 FTE and would ideally be spread across 4 - 5 days but this is negotiable with the successful applicant. To begin as soon as possible.

Working in partnership with Learning Intervention Team they will implement aspects of learning for students including:

  • leading small group instruction
  • working collaboratively with the classroom teacher to support assessment for learning of students
  • planning, implementing, modelling, monitoring and evaluating learning
  • using and promoting effective teaching practices that engage and enhance student learning and achievement.
  • providing feedback regarding student learning to classroom teachers on a regular basis
  • planning for differentiation based on individual needs working with students across classrooms when appropriate, analysing data to make judgement on where students are, where they are going to and how they will get there
  • being familiar with the curriculum for the year levels they are working in
  • collecting data on the students they are working with to share with the class teacher
  • being aware of PLP goals for any students that they may be working with and plan accordingly
  • implement MiniLit / MacqLit Intervention programs in Literacy intervention groups
  • implement Bond Blocks Intervention System in Mathematics intervention groups
  • be available to teach classes when Intervention groups are not running

  • be experienced in teaching primary classes
  • be highly motivated, committed, positive, friendly and enthusiastic
  • be passionate and innovative about learning and teaching, 
  • be able to communicate frequently and sensitively with families and successfully engage them in the intervention program
  • be able to work as part of teams of various sizes
  • be self-motivated and able to work independently if necessary
  • have the capacity to cater effectively for a diverse range of learning needs
  • be able to build positive relationships with children and create learning environments where all are valued and challenged
  • be committed to professional learning and ongoing improvement

It is preferable (but not expected) that the successful applicant has a knowledge of:

  • MiniLit
  • MacqLit
  • Bond Blocks

Special Requirements

  Applicants must have: 

  • Accreditation to teach in a Catholic School (Preferable). Please include Accreditation Documentation
  • VIT registration. Please include copy of current VIT Registration Card
