St Lawrence of Brindisi Catholic Primary School, Weir Views groundbreaking ceremony.18 May 2021

Work has officially commenced on St Lawrence of Brindisi Catholic Primary School, Weir Views, in Melbourne’s outer west.

St Lawrence of Brindisi will be the second school in the parish of St Anthony of Padua, Melton South, joining St Anthony’s School, Melton South, as an increased offering for Catholic families in the area. Dignitaries from the local community and Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) gathered together for the ceremonial turning of the soil.

For the school’s foundation principal Bill Hill, the creation of a brand new school is the culmination of a professional dream. As an educator, I have long aspired for the opportunity to work with a community to develop a school culture from the beginning: a culture where each person is valued, where the learning is profound, and where children are empowered to be creative, innovative and critical thinkers’, he said.

The school is one of two new Catholic primary schools currently under construction in Melbourne. St Lawrence of Brindisi Catholic Primary School and Holy Cross Catholic Primary School, Mickleham, will both open in January 2022.
