The community at St Jude’s School, Langwarrin, celebrated the opening and blessing of the new Junior Years building.

Coinciding with celebrations for the Feast Day of St Jude, the opening brought together the past and present school communities, as well as principals from neighbouring schools and former principals of St Jude’s School to mark this important milestone in its history. The ceremony began in the school’s hall before moving to the new state-of-the-art facilities.

‘This is a transformative space for the community here at St Jude’s’, said Principal Marita O’Sullivan. ‘Undertaking a project like this is about making a great school even greater and, with facilities like this, we’re well and truly on our way. It’s completely reinvigorated our beautiful school.’

Auxiliary Bishop for the Southern Region, Most Rev Anthony J Ireland, blessed the new spaces. Representatives from Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) attended, including Executive Director, Dr Edward Simons, and Southern Regional General Manager, Deb Egan. The project was made possible with a grant from MACS.

‘We’re extremely grateful for the support of MACS through a supplementary grant’, said Mrs O’Sullivan. ‘This is our future.’
